Arrival
We’ll begin with a short check-in to understand where you’re at and how you’re feeling.
Tension, Stress & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) is a somatic approach that uses a series of simple exercises to activate the body’s natural tremor response — a gentle shaking or vibrating sensation.
This natural mechanism helps the body release deep patterns of muscle tension related to stress, injury, or trauma, in a safe and controlled way.
As tension releases, the nervous system can begin to settle, allowing the body to return to a state of greater ease, balance, and well-being.
TRE was developed by Dr. David Berceli, and is used worldwide as a self-regulation tool to support ongoing nervous system health.
With regular practice, TRE can support a wide range of physical and emotional benefits.
It may also help develop greater body awareness, supporting a deeper understanding of our emotions and the ways we experience and respond to life.
TRE is designed to be a self-help and empowering tool that, once learned, can be practiced independently and as needed to support ongoing balance and well-being.
TRE is not a substitute for medical or psychological trauma treatment, but it can be a supportive complement to other forms of care, including work with therapists, physiotherapists, or bodyworkers.
Here’s what you can expect in a TRE session:
We’ll begin with a short check-in to understand where you’re at and how you’re feeling.
We move through a series of simple exercises, adapted to you, to gently activate different areas of the body.
We will invite tremors in the body and allow the process to unfold for up to 15 minutes.
We’ll close with time to integrate the experience and discuss any questions that come up.
About the Experience
Each experience with TRE is unique. Some people may notice emotional responses, memories, or a noticeable sense of release during or after a session, while others experience the process more subtly through physical sensations. The body often takes time to build trust and respond gradually. TRE is approached with attention to self-regulation, allowing the process to unfold at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for your system.
The experience can vary from person to person. Some people notice gentle shaking, vibrations, warmth, stretching sensations, or emotional release, while others experience the process more subtly. There is no “right” way for the body to respond.
Every body responds differently, and there is no “right” way to experience TRE. Some people notice tremors right away, while for others the process unfolds more gradually over time. The absence of tremors does not mean you are doing anything wrong. TRE is approached gently and without force, allowing the body to respond in its own way and timing.
While the exercises themselves are simple, beginning with guidance can help support a safer and more self-regulated experience. Guided sessions can help you learn the practice gradually, better understand your body’s responses, and develop the confidence to practice independently over time.
TRE can be supportive for many people experiencing stress, tension, overwhelm, or a desire to reconnect with their body. However, certain physical or psychological conditions may require additional care or modifications. If you have any concerns, we will discuss them together before beginning.
TRE is not psychotherapy or talk therapy. It is a body-based practice designed to support the release of stress and tension through the body’s natural tremor mechanism. While emotional experiences may arise during the process, the focus of TRE is on supporting regulation and reconnection through the body.
Practical Details
Wear comfortable clothing (such as yoga or gym wear) and bring a bottle of water. If possible, avoid eating a heavy meal beforehand. I’ll provide a mat and any props you may need. It can be helpful to leave some space in your schedule afterward, so the body has time to settle and integrate.
People respond differently after a session. Some feel more relaxed, grounded, or present, while others may notice tiredness, emotional sensitivity, or increased awareness in the body. Giving yourself some quiet space afterward can help the integration process.
There’s no fixed number. If you’re new to TRE, 2-5 sessions can help you learn the practice and feel more comfortable with it. From there, it’s flexible — you can continue on your own and come back as needed.
At the moment, TRE is not typically covered by health insurance.
E-transfer or cash for local sessions. Wise or bank transfer for international clients.
You can cancel or reschedule a session at no charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a 50% session fee.
